The postponed clash between the two unbeaten teams in the First Division , Bentley A and Central A, has taken place with the points shared. Phil Snelson was unbeaten for Central with team-mate, Paul Baker, supporting with a duo. Micky Lang won twice for Bentley. Both Central and Bentley had won their matches before the Christmas break, Central beat Ash B 9-1 with Snelson and Peter Millard claiming full houses and Baker chipping in with a brace. Meanwhile Bentley took out title contenders, Central B, 8-2. Graham Diplock secured the full house for Bentley with Lang winning the two games he played. Elsewhere Tennis A beat Ash A 8-2 with Rod Kay chalking up a maximum and team-mates Eliot Tilley and Paul Myers each winning twice but both succumbed to Ash’s Dave Phelps. Frimley A eased past Fleet A 6-4 on the back of a Peter Farrelly maximum. Ce Guo won a couple in support. Tennis B beat their C team 6-4 with the B team’s Paul Shakespeare winning all three. Colin Baggott and Simon Turner both won twice for the C team.
In the Second Division Frimley B helped their promotion cause with a narrow, 6-4, win over Old Woking. No player was unbeaten on the night with duos for Pete Good and John Eade for Frimley and Steve Cheek and Gordon Aplin for Old Woking. In a week of 6-4s Braybrooke A beat Tennis D. Mark Armstrong secured a maximum for Braybrooke with Mick Rumbold supporting with a pair. This was matched by Charles Burton for Tennis. Bentley B also won 6-4, against Cody B. Robin Street and Paul Farrant both won twice for Bentley as did Dave Stenning and Duncan Sibbick for Cody. Ash C broke the trend with an emphatic 8-2 victory over Tennis E. Nigel Tustin led the way with a trio and he was supported by Frank Winnard and Terry French who each won twice.
The top two in the Third Division continue to dominate. Crawley Ridge B beat Ash D 8-2 with both Phil Garrett and David Skellern undefeated. Tennis G beat Crawley Ridge A 9-1 with Peter Bone and Mehrdad Abutalebi claiming full houses and Martin Evans supporting with a duo. Frimley D beat Cody C 7-3 with Ted Cornell and Brian Greenberg recording trios for Frimley. Cody D beat Tennis F 7-3 with all the Cody outfit, Alan Richards, John Sheehy and Kim Phillips bagging braces. This was matched by Tennis’ Tushar Vaja.
Crawley Ridge C, in the Fourth Division, went into the winter break with a whitewash of Cody F to maintain their lead at the top. Richard Hornby, Mark Stephenson and David Marchant picked up the points. Braybrooke B continue to threaten the top of the table after an 8-2 victory over Cody E. Sandra Jackson and Gabriel Ailioae each won three times for Braybrooke. Ash G beat Frimley E 6-4 with Frimley’s Charles Rhodes unbeaten. Sheila Pretty and John Hutchinson each won twice for Ash. Fleet C and Tennis H shared the spoils with Andrew Hook unbeaten for Fleet. John Page and Michael Wolfe each won twice for Tennis. Tennis J eased past Ash F 6-4 with Ash’s Graham Thomas claiming a maximum. Keith Johnson and Ken Lewington both won twice for Tennis.
