The first testing of the handicaps for this season’s competition held up well with some close matches. Frimley C eased past Tennis F 7-5 although an error in one player’s handicap made the task more difficult. On the night Gary Nicholson was undefeated for Frimley with Anthony Connelly supporting with a duo. Charles Burton won a couple for Tennis. Frimley F secured a more straightforward 7-3 victory over Cody A. Keith Russell won a couple for Cody as did the Frimley trio of Gary Smith, Paul Phelan and Ted Cornell.
The first round of matches in the Bob Taylor Cup were played with both matches won by the scoreline 7-5. Mehrdad Abutalebi picked up a maximum for the Third Division outfit whilst Richard Hornby and Yuriy Shulzhenko won twice apiece for the Fourth Division. Division two edged past the First Division thanks to a Peter Killick full house and a couple from George Carder. David Joyce won twice for the First Division.
An outstanding KO Cup Match from the Fourth Division saw Tennis H overcome their club-mates 6-3 with Michael Wolfe leading the way with a maximum. John Page won a couple in support which was matched by the J team’s Keith Johnson.
In the Third Division Crawley Ridge B maintained their grip at the top with an 8-2 victory over their A team. Phil Garrett was undefeated whilst Stephen Bridle and David Skellern won twice apiece. Ash E edged past Cody D 6-4 with Terry French notching up a full house and Graham Thomas supporting with a pair.
In the First Division Central A eased past Tennis B 6-4. Paul Baker and Dennis Perrett, on his return from Injury, each won a couple for Central as did Michael Kwan for Tennis.
