Ash J, in the Fourth Division, enjoyed their first win of the season when they beat Cody F 7-3. Paul Gilbey was the star performer for Ash with a full house whilst team-mate John Hutchinson won a couple as did Cody’s Nigel Willshire. Cody F had, themselves, recorded their first win the week before, also 7-3. This was against Tennis J who suffered their first reverse of the campaign. John Sheehy and Phil Russell were both undefeated for Cody. Crawley Ridge B maintained their promotion push with success against the previously unbeaten Broadmoor C, 8-2. Peter Greenwood-Sleep recorded a maximum with Richard Pape and Ron Bartlett supporting with duos. Tennis H shared the points with two-man Ash H. Ash’s Darren Milstead was unbeaten with colleague Brian Lunn winning twice. Cody E maintained their perfect record with a 7-3 success over Ash K. Alan Richards grabbed a full house with Kim Phillips winning twice as did Stuart Wickham for Ash.
In the top division Tennis A beat Central A 7-3. Phil Snelson won all three for Central with the Tennis trio of Eliot Tilley, Rod Kay and Kevin Bown each successful twice. Ash A won for the first time with an emphatic 8-2 victory over Tennis B. Nick Mills won all his singles with Dave Halfpenny and Dave Gilham each bagging a brace but both lost to Tennis’ Simon Turner. Central B thrashed Cody A 9-1. Martin Townshend and Dave Phelps were both unbeaten with Robin Pretty chipping in with a couple. Bentley A eased past Tennis C 6-4. Andy Mudie was unbeaten for Bentley with both Graham Diplock and Paul Shakespeare winning a couple apiece for Tennis. Frimley A edged past Ash B in a marathon, 6-4. Nobody was unbeaten with pairs for Paul Rumble and John Wheeler for Frimley and the Ash pair of Ben Fereday and james Wyncoll.
Cody B moved up the Second Division when they took Ash C’s 100% record with a 7-3 victory. Paul Mission won all three for Cody with Dave Stenning supporting with a duo. Nigel Tustin won a couple for Ash. Broadmoor A got back to winning ways with a 6-4 victory over Frimley B. Keith Jones was unbeaten with Pu Zhang grabbing a couple as did Frimley’s Hilary Greig. Broadmoor B lost to two-man Fleet A who had Dave Joyce and Melvyn Lovegrove unbeaten.
Frimley C, in the Third Division, whitewashed Ash E. John Eade, Pete Good and Derek Seager inflicted the damage. Tennis F beat Frimley D 7-3 with Frimley’s Gary Nicholson unbeaten. Paul Jarvis. Peter Killick and Darren Brown all won twice for Tennis. Cody C beat Tennis G 8-2 with Jock Docherty picking up three and John Harvey and Bruce McPherson supporting with a pair but both lost to Tennis’ Andrew Blunden.
