Table Tennis by Paul Myers Farnborough Tennis F have stormed clear at the top of Division Three in the Aldershot and District Table Tennis League. They beat both Cody C and Ash G 9-1 with a Ron Wale double hat-trick and trebles from George Courtney and Ian Brown helping maintain their sides winning run. Broadmoor have moved up the division with two good victories the first being a 7-3 win against Frimley C and the second an 8-2 win against Ash H in which Brunton and Zhang both won all three. Kingfisher B have made a move into mid-division with a couple of 6-4 wins against Frimley C and Tennis G, Geoff Green and Ken Thompson both bagged hat-tricks in the process. Kingfisher A beat second placed Frimley B 7-3 with Derek Read the man of the match winning all three for Kingfisher. Farnham Central B consolidated their position at the top of Division One by beating Bentley A 8-2 with Pete Millard and Graham Watts both grabbing hat-tricks. In second place Central A had two good wins against club mates Central C and Ash B, in which Norman Swift was in top form winning six out of six. In third place and moving ahead of their A side are Ash B who beat Tennis A 8-2 with Nick Mills and Dave Halfpenny both unbeaten. Shackleford remain in mid-division after beating Ash C 7-3 and losing 6-4 to Ash A. In the Ash clash Mike Wagstaff was the star man winning all three. Frimley A continue to improve with a 6-4 win against Tennis A in which Graham Dickson of Tennis won all three and Bentley beat Challoner 7-3 in which Crispian Knight grabbed a treble for the losing side. Fleet CC A are the only unbeaten team in the second division after beating the previously unbeaten Tennis B 6-4 in a top of the table clash. In what was a very close match Dave Hewitt got the top honours with a hard fought hat-trick .Fleet CC A for good measure then beat Tennis E 7-3 to round off a good couple of weeks .Cody A’s John Harvey, Paul Mission and Peter Anthony all proved too good for Bourne A with an excellent 9-1 win but Bourne avoided the whitewash by winning the doubles. Bourne A and Tennis C fought out a draw to maintain mid table security with Dave Jarvis the hat-trick man for Tennis. Cody E have moved up the table in Division Four with a couple of solid wins. They beat Frimley E 8-2 and Fleet CC C 6-4 with John Warburton winning all three against Frimley and Norrie Short achieving the same feat against Fleet CC C. Tennis H maintained second position behind inactive Cody D with a 7-3 win against Fleet CC B in which Andy Blunden won all three for Fleet. Ash K thrashed Fleet CC C 9-1 with Dave Phillips unbeaten this season and Basil Warner both in hat-trick form. This result keeps them in a stalking fourth position with games in hand on the three above them. Bentley B beat Kingfisher C 6-4 with Chris Saville the thorn in Bentley’s side taking all three singles. Chris Saville went on to grab another treble in Kingfishers draw against Frimley D.
